3 and a half Hours of saying thank you and goodbye...

March 22, 2006... Wednesday...The Tribute... some JPIA oldies told me before this activity is one of the best ever in the myriad of JPIA activities. Now i know why. This is because some of our beloved graduating JPIAns will be given of a simple tribute by their respective committees. As part of the Exte EB, of course, I have the task to make this activity to the zenith of my capabilities be memorable to them. However, I think that the juniors (Addie, DK and Boiboi) already made our presentation. So there...

The Tribute was held at Shangri-La West Ave. I believe it has lasted for 3 and a half hours. That 3 and a half hours made me realize that being a part of this organization is really wonderful, coz my heart has been filled with wonderful memories whom I shared with these people who are, sadly, graduating. Everyone's been giving their best to make this event possible, especially the MEMCOM EBs, the facilitator of the activity. TRIBUTE was a very big success...

The program was started by of course, dinner... WHoa... the viands were great, albeit I had to help first Roger (the new president) and my fellow co-Chairs with our Exte tribute. There has been a difficulty with regards to the video, according to Boiboi "3 years pa yan". Addie followed: "Hinihimas-himas pa namin yan ni DK, sabi namin, kaya mo yan, sige pa". I laughed because Boiboi is panicking already. That's why we waited until it has been finished. While waiting, I left them to eat coz my stomach is already aching. I savored the food, haha (patay-gutom)... leche, magtatagalog na nga lang ako...

Ayun, nagstart na din yung committee presentations. Una yung PEP, tributing Anie, Daryl, Carlo, and of course VP Owen. Then ang INFOPUB. wala me ma-say. then kami na... nakakatuwa ang tribute namin... video. After that, binigay namin yung tokens, guess what, halaman... fortune plant for the boys, cactus for the girls. after that bigay tribute kami kay Ate Iris, our beloved VP. Then, nagtribute ang mga committe/adhoc chairs sa mga EOs. ang mga tarpaulins with their pix yung binigay nila with the song In My Life ata or Graduation song ulit. then ang LEAP ang nagtribute kila Kuya Jay at ROma. ;p

Then, ang mga EOs may special presentation... Kinanta nila yung experiences naming lahat sa JPIA dun sa kanta na "Sa Lahat" or something, i dont know the title e. Nakakaiyak talaga... sobrang nakakatouch...

After that, inacknowledge yung mga new set of EOs. Roger, President;Richard, VP for Internals; Janno, VP for Externals; Manu, VP for InfoPub; Lawrence, VP for Finance; Myo, VP for E&R; and Jeff, VP for LIaison. i was so happy coz finally, complete na ang roster ng JPIA EOs. Now, I can say that UP JPIA is "politically stable". hehehehe

After that, ay ang walang kamatayang picture taking. Umupo kaming lahat sa stairs, at ngumiti forever. Then, ang mga pagpapaalam... Waah... TRIBUTE is really one of the best JPIA memories I ever had... Bye graduating students, thank YOU for sharing with me your lives... :)

Why an accounting exam does bring different emotions to people? by Jon Macaldo

Post ni Jon sa blog nya..

Kapag taga-UP ka, ano ba ang pipiliin mong course?

Sabi sa akin ng aking prof sa accounting, before the specie of BS Nursing came, BS Business Administration and Accountancy was the most in-demand course in the UP. Not only it has the longest word among the other courses in UP Diliman, it is also (hindi naman sa pag-aangat ng bangko) one of the hardest courses offered in the university. Unlike in other universities, they offer a 4-year accounting course, with just fewer management subjects, including law, finance, statistics and economics. But in UPD, hindi lang mga pamatay na accounting subjects ang meron. Tinadtad din ng management subjects, feasibility, finance, law, statistics, economics and even algebra with trigonometry and calculus subjects!!!! Kamuzta naman talaga... I thought, due to my aunt's stories during her college life as an accounting student, accounting is very, very EASY. But no! I was very very wrong. Ewan talaga…

Bakit ang accounting ng UP napakahirap? Sabi nila, this course tests us how will we perform in the so-called "real life". Fake? Peke ba yung paghihirap mo sa almost 3 and a half hours na exam na kulang na kulang na, tapos di ka pa sigurado kung papasa ka? I don't think so. I don't think so. Para sa akin, accounting tests our ability to see life as how it is presented no pretensions, no hesitations. Me rason bako?

Hay...

Why an accounting exam brings different emotions to people? Marahil marami tayong rason. .=) - by Jon Macaldo (2nd Year BS BAA, JPIA Member, Exte Co-chair)

Sagot Ko...

Leche... Accounting lang yan! There's more to life than BA 99.1, 99.2, 114, 116, 118 and 123. (Haha... but then again, life in college is all about these 6 subjects!) - by Chad. =)

i know what you did last saturday... mwahahaha

Our group went last Saturday to MBC to continue our computer literacy program. After a bumping ride of jeepney to MBC, we waited until 11 am to initiate the endeavor. While waiting, we decided to interview some of the boys, who will be the beneficiaries of our solicitations. I haven’t decided at first who will I pick because Toni, our group leader, said that all the boys in the room where the kind lady has offered to us were already been interviewed. So, I decided to pick the first boy who entered and to have a one-on-one, intimate chat with him. That lucky boy was Dennis.

Dennis V. Lingganay, a 15 year-old lanky boy from Ormoc, Leyte was my interviewee. He seemed nice and quiet, because he didn’t talk that much. I remembered him from the February 24 Computer Literacy Program that we have implemented. Yes, he smiled, but he seldom talk. He laugh, but he never mingled. So I was bothered. Even to my interview with him.

When I asked why he is now in MBC, he replied “Kasi wala kaming bahay po. I was shocked and amused, for their parents (he has a brother with him, his name is Danilo) have risked the distance just to give them education. I told him, “Bakit kayo lang dalawa, ilan ba kayong magkakapatid”? He replied, “Kaming dalawa lang talaga e”. With that, I inferred, with the poverty obstructing our rights, our freedom to choose what we want, is really a big issue. Now that there are political issues continuing to emerge, the Philippine politicians should give emphasis more to the marginalized and poor Filipinos. The irony of life is really bemusing. What they have promised to their platforms, well, is not emerging now.

When I asked about his dreams, he really wanted to soar high: “Gusto kong maging engineer, kahit anong klase. O kaya maging NBA or PBA player”. That gave me an assurance that despite of his financial ineptness, he has dreams which he can pursue and continue to live on.

We just have a short time to talk. Maybe I don’t look approachable. Blame my genes.

ELEV86:LIFT ONE ANOTHER UP

Haay, ang saya ng Elevate6: Lift one another up. wheew, after so-called 2 days ng practice, successful naman siya...hehehe... ang mismong competition yung naging "run-through" namin. Shet. Buti nalang ang determined ng dancers (Owen, Jeff, Lica, Anie, Jonz, Archie, Cleiza, Jenny Gaje, Hans, Kristy, Micha, Marves, Leo, Joyce), lifters and spotters (ako, JayJay, Jubs, Mela, Mark Banawa, Brian Bauza, Mads at Janno) at sa mga JPIAns na pumunta... sori kung sino man kayo, thank you talaga.... :)

SECOND PLACE! COMEON! 15THOUSAND WORTH OF CASH(12THOU) TSAKA 3THOU BAMBINI PRODUCTS... YEHES!

GO JPIA!

I think more than the prize, the ELEVATE is coveted by some organizations to prove how unified their organization is, as the UP PEP SQUAD is. I think, we have proven enough... :)
